Boston home prices hit 7-year high despite nationwide slowdown

Boston-area home prices increased by 7 percent on a year-over-year basis in June and reached a level not seen since late 2006, according to the latest S&P/Case-Shiller report.

The local region's price appreciation outpaced the national average of 6.2 percent for the 12-month period that ended June 30, although it lagged many of the country's larger home markets that were particularly hard-hit by the recent housing downturn and subsequent recession. To be sure, speculators are back in force in some of the very same markets — Las Vegas (up 15.2 percent), Miami (11.5 percent) and Los Angeles (10.5 percent), in particular — that saw the steepest price depreciation as the past decade's housing bubble deflated.

What is the hottest housing market in Massachusetts right now?

Real Estate has gotten off to a sizzling start this Spring, some might argue that its been hot since the start of 2013.  People are once again talking real estate.  We see it in the national news that prices are up almost everywhere from a year ago, but as we know, real estate is not about national statistics... its about local markets, more so micro-markets.  So what's the hottest market in the Boston area?  Heck in all of Massachusetts?  Brookline leads the way!
